Uncover Sri Lanka on an unforgettable tour of the country’s cities, lush landscapes and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with highlights including a wildlife safari and beach escape

Days 1-2: Habarana

Arrive in Colombo and transfer to Cinnamon Lodge Habarana. In the morning, begin your tour with a visit to the phenomenal Sigiriya ‘Lion Rock’ Fortress, a towering citadel that you can climb for breathtaking views over the plains. Later, take a catamaran across a scenic reservoir to a local village, where you can take a walk through paddy fields and help to prepare a simple, traditional Sri Lankan lunch.

Distance from Bandaranaike International airport: 150km

Day 3: Habarana - Polonnaruwa - Habarana

Transfer to Polonnaruwa where you’ll first enjoy a leisurely cycling tour, exploring lush fields and local village life, before taking a bus to Polonnaruwa’s ancient ruins.

Day 4: Habarana - Kandy

Transfer to Kandy and pay a visit to the awe-inspiring Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing some of the country’s most important religious art. You’ll also make a stop at an Ayurvedic Village, where an array of spices are grown.

Distance from Habarana: 100km

Day 5: Kandy

Today, discover the Sacred Temple of the Tooth, considered to be the holiest place in the world for many Buddhists. Later, explore Kandy’s rich culture on a guided city tour, ending at a local arts and crafts hotspot. You’ll also have the option to visit the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Day 6: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Set off for Nuwara Eliya this morning, once a British summer retreat. The drive here is one of the most scenic routes in the world, passing mountains, tea plantations, waterfalls and more. En route, visit a tea plantation and factory, following the humble tea leaf’s journey to the cup.

Distance from Kandy: 90km

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya - Udawalawe

In association with the Born Free Foundation, the Department of Wildlife Conservation has set up the Elephant Transit Home, a facility designed to rehabilitate orphaned baby elephants with an aim to ultimately release them back into their natural habitat. Pay a visit to the sanctuary before a thrilling Jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park, where in addition to the Asiatic elephant, you might spot water buffalo, jackals, the elusive leopard, exotic birdlife and more. En-route, you’ll also stop at the beautiful Ravana Falls.

Distance from Nuwara Eliya: 160km

Day 8: Udawalawe - Galle - Beruwala

On the last day of your guided tour, you’ll transfer to Beruwala for some well-earnt beach relaxation, but not before one last cultural excursion. Explore the historic fortified city of Galle, with its fascinating architecture, before checking in to Cinnamon Bey Beruwala for three or five nights by the ocean.

Distance from Udawalawe: 290km; distance from Beruwala to Bandaranaike International airport: 110km
